Social media is great, but it also has many downsides which we explore in this blog post.
Social media, is an amazing place, it is a way to share your life with people and a way you can now make a living. However, people known as ‘influencers’ like to present the idea of ‘the grass being greener on the other side.’ On social media there is access to all sorts of filters and also editing apps which can completely change the shape of your face and body.
Let's Talk Filters
Filters are amazing, they can spark conversation, can be entertaining for children or whilst socialising however, they can cause insecurities and people to look at themselves in a different way because they don't look like the filter they're using.
Filters that are accessed through Snapchat or Instagram, are able to completely change the way you look, they smooth skin, reduce any sort of fine lines or blemishes and reduce the reality of what the average person looks like. It is very important with social media to remember that it is not always real and what people choose to share is only a snippet of their lives. Being able to look at social media and enjoy it is great but when you begin comparing yourself to what you see is where it goes downhill as it is an unrealistic reality that is completely unsustainable.
