The Importance Of Safety On A Night Out

Safety on a night out is already a vital part to enjoy your time, however, as women there is many extra precautions we have to take to ensure our safety at all times.

As young people, we are constantly told to ‘be careful’ and ‘text me once your'e home’. Women will carry their keys in their knuckles or have 999 on speed dial and drop their location to their friends in an attempt to stay safe on the streets at night. Whilst at University, you want to go out and enjoy yourself and here are the ways to stay safe whilst doing so.

Precautions You Can Take As A Female To Ensure Your Safety

Before you head out with your friends, make a plan, and stick to it. If everyone agreed to meet in on place, then meet in that place and wait until everyone is back or you know they’re safe. If you are by yourself, carry a personal alarm. In the UK we are limited to what items of self defence we can carry but a personal alarm is one of them so why not get one? 9 times out of 10, these will be available from your University. Another thing, is to trust your intuition, if something feels wrong, report it. Wether you’re walking home and feel as though you are being followed, or you have witnessed something in a club, it’s so important that someone is informed of it so that no one is harmed. If you think someone is following you, try and get to where there is people so that you are not alone and get your phone out and make a police report to ensure that you get the help you need and return home safely.
