FEMPOWERED, is a company who aim to empower women and encourage period positivity to fight the stigma associated with menstruation.
Fempowered is a movement for women's menstrual cycles and it incorporates how the seasons of the year relate to a woman's menstrual cycle. Fempowered have an aim to get rid of the stigma of women hiding their emotions by saying ‘its the time of the month’ or being asked if ‘aunt flo’ is here. Women who experience a menstrual cycle constantly have hormones constantly changing, going from one end to another so feeling emotional or angry is completely normal whilst on your period.
What is Period Positivity?
period positivity is about inclusion and understanding for everyone who menstruates. Being able to relate and empathise with people is something so important but also, being able to fight against the discourse that people face so that it is in line with basic human rights is incredibly important.
Fempowered is a comping that look at relating your periods to the season of the year is a really simple and easy way of understanding you menstrual cycle and also explaining it to others.
Starting with winter, your hormones drop and you feel tired and drained, like everyone odes in winter. Spring, is similar to pre-ovulation, your body is preparing for it to ovulate and for your eggs to be released, similarly to leaves on a tree. Summer correlates with ovulation, you feel like your best self and turn into a social butterfly. Autumn however, is where it changes, you feel less energetic and more sensitive to criticism and all you want to do is lie in bed and watch Netflix. Relating your menstrual cycles to the seasons in a year helps you to understand your on body that little bit more.
Not only do Fempowered empower women and normalise periods, they also allow you to take charge of your flow and offer a subscription package. Subscription is easy, all you need to do is select which products you require, enter your details and they’ll be in the post on their way to you within a couple of days. You can either subscribe as a one off or you can do their monthly subscription and receive your products every month. The packaging is discreet and doesn’t let everyone know that you are on your period and they are also sustainable. If one month your needs change, you can change which products get sent in your box or if one month you don’t need the products, just let them know.
